Korean-language Textbooks (Hangul) Published in the USSR (1920-1930)

Zhanna Son

(National Research University Higher School of Economics, Russia)

For the first time, a review of the educational Korean-language literature published in the Soviet Far East is presented in Russian and foreign historiography. A diverse and wide range of books disposes to scientific analysis as an historical source on the development of the Korean language, culture, and education of Korean migrants in the territory of the USSR during the formation of the Soviet government and the Korean community (Soviet Koreans). These books, which were published in the Korean language in the USSR, are a cultural monument. They keep and broadcast multi-valuate information (from scientific to aesthetic) for the Korean community. These books maintain a collective memory of the Korean community in the USSR (Russia), and are an example of the interaction of Russian and Korean cultures.
