“Gambling Court” is specifically designed for those who addicted on (certain) gambling and, because of necessity of money, committed relatively minor crimes which are mainly property offenses. The concept of Gambling Court is borrowed from “Drug Court” which can be seen in several states by the end of 20th century. For Drug Court, if the accused person meets certain criteria, (s)he may be treated inside the society than putting in jail or other custodial facilities. The logic behind this generous treatment is that the person unwillingly forced to the commit a crime because of strong (uncontrollable) desire for money to buy a drug. If the person can control the desire, therefore, the person will not commit a crime anymore. At least the person is not regarded as an anti-social in nature; Gambling Court has the same notion and treatment with Drug Court. This paper focus on what is Gambling Court and how it will be adopted in different social setting. Besides, this paper also discusses definition of “addicted person”, history of gambling disorder, and “mock trial of Gambling Court” for reference. The mock trial was performed at one academic meeting held in Las Vegas in 2019.
