Hye Mi Kim

(Inha University, Korea)

The purpose of this study is to explore the solidarity experience of Myanmar students in Korea and figure out the meaning of their experience. This study adopted Narrative inquiry among various qualitative methods, and in-depth interview was used for data collection. It seeks to figure out the meaning of solidarity using the narratives lived and told by two research participants studying in Korea. As a result, three specific meanings embedded in the participants’ narratives were discovered. First, the participants recognized their need for solidarity after the military coup. Second, they experienced various types of solidarity. Third, the solidarity experience motivated them to commit to another solidarity. This study expects to reaffirm the importance of solidarity in the international community for Myanmar people and suggests a desirable direction for sustainable solidarity.
